An unusual wooden, lacquered and mother-of-pearl inlaid stand with silver sirih implements
Apparently unmarked, former Dutch East Indies, 18th/19th Century
The stand on octagonal base bombé body inlaid with mother-of-pearl flowers and foliage on black lacquered and gold ground, the centre with red lacquer, the matched silver sirih-set comprising: two boxes, one globular and one shaped circular of shape; a tapering octagonal sirih vase and three shaped circular bowls, all decorated with flowers and foliage, the sirih-vase also with birds and horse and one of the boxes with bird finial
