A fine 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the meridian at 30°W, running through Greenland and graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, traversing the equator at 120°W and 60°E, the oceans with an analemma and showing the tracks of numerous exploratory voyages, such as those of Cook, Clerke and Ross, with various dates and notes such as Sea Weed Seen and concerning Cook's death on Hawaii, the Arctic with a note concerning Scoresby's exploration, the Antarctic with small sections of coastline and ice shown with various notes, the continents outlined in green and showing towns, cities, rivers, mountains, deserts and the Great Wall of China, North America showing the territories of numerous native Indian tribes, including the Snake Indians, the Hare Indians and the Quarrellers, Africa with numerous notes such as Dry bed of a riv., BUTUA Gold Mi., Backbone of the World and numerous others (extensive but neat repairs with redrawing, some small loss of detail and repainting to the oceans, some areas of discolouration), with a stamped brass meridian circle, the papered mahogany horizon ring graduated in degrees for amplitude and azimuth, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac with names, pictures and sigils, also showing wind directions and minutes before and after the clock for the Sun, raised on four baluster turned mahogany legs united by cross stretchers -- 18¾in.
