A late 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
signed on the circular stage BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO., and inscribed on the limb PAT. OCT. 3. 1876, with rack and pinion focusing and fine-screw adjustment, with nickel-plated triple nose-piece, the circular stage with glass cover, sub-stage wheel condenser and plano-concave mirror, the body limb with axis located by compass joint on the vertical pillar support and horizontal tripod stand, with two eyepieces and three B & L objectives, 1/8, ¼ and ½, contained in the original mahogany carrying case -- 13¾in. (35cm.) high
