The case inlaid overall with inhabited floral marquetry, the plinth with later skirt, rectangular trunk door with glazed lenticle, boxwood-inlaid rectangular panels to the sides, the hood with ebonised twist columns and later blind friezes to the flat top, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Edm: Day London on the silvered chapter ring with blued steel hands (later minute hand), the matted centre with ringed winding holes, subsidiary seconds ring and decorated calendar aperture, cherub and foliate spandrels interrupting the florally engraved border, pinned dial feet, latches to the five ringed pillars of the movement with inside countwheel strike on bell and anchor escapement
