No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more The Order Services of Saints George, Andrew, Alexander Nevskii and Valdimir, were commissioned by Catherine the Great from the porcelain Factory owned by the Englishman Francis Gardner. Decorated with the ribbons, badges and stars of each order, the services were used by the knights of the order at a banquet held on the saint's feast day each year at the Hermitage. These were the factory's first purely Russian services, not influenced by Western European designs.

Lot Essay

The St. Vladimir Order service was ordered by Catherine the Great in 1783 for 140 places, and completed in 1785.
