A holdall of leather and cream canvas woven with the LW motif of the manufacturer's Loewe, the leather lid embellished with several travel labels including a paper tie-on label inscribed in Margot Fonteyn's hand in pencil Practice things shoes etc., another printed label Quantas First Class, another i.d. label inscribed in Fonteyn's secretary's hand Dame Margot Fonteyn, 4/1 Princes Gate, London SW7, England, the bag containing:
- a knee-length practice skirt of saffron chiffon, the waistband initialled inside in blue ballpoint pen S;
- a black cotton 'gypsy' headscarf decorated at the edge with loops of gilt metal thread and amber beads interspersed with gilt metal 'coins' of various sizes; and another scarf of tangerine chiffon woven in a floral pattern;
- three pairs of pale pink satin ballet shoes by Freed, London, size 4, each pair with pink ribbons attached and indistinct dates and initials inscribed on the soles, one sole additionally inscribed and dated 5/4/78 (all three pairs well worn)
- three additional pairs of pale pink satin ballet shoes, by Freed, London, size 4, one pair with soles dated 10/5/78, another with one sole inscribed Fontoyn [sic] the other dated 10/5/78 (all three pairs in excellent condition with little sign of wear)
- another pair of ballet shoes of candy pink kid, by Anelloe & Davide, size 4 (well worn)
- another pair of pale pink satin ballet shoes by Nicolini Romeo Milano, size 12, the insides inscribed in pencil Gregorova (signs of light wear)
- a crotched shawl of ivory mohair wool;
- a simulated tortoise-shell make-up box by Elizabeth Arden, the hinged lid incorporating an interior mirror, the box containing an assortment of make-up including lipsticks, lipgloss, lip brushes, theatrical paint, false eyelashes and foundation by various makers;
- a varnished wooden plate decorated with a printed scene of Hyde Park Corner in Victorian days;
- three pairs of imitation pearl or rhinestone earrings;
- a cassette tape labelled in typescript Sleeping Beauty and inscribed in blue ink in Fonteyn's hand Very poor quality rehearsal tape - Margot Fonteyn;
- a torn fragment of paper inscribed in Fonteyn's hand with a check list written in red fibre tip pen on the reverse of a typescript note from a friend, listing various touring essentials: Mirror, Dressing-gown, towel, practice clothes, shoes, hair spray, removing cream......;
- a selection of practice tights of various shades of pink and various widths of stockinette/'silk';
- a small purse containing needles and pink sewing silks
- a small bag containing pink silk ribbons, pink cotton ties and pink elastic;
- two small complimentary airflight purses containing hairpins;
- a small bag containing imitation pearls, ribbon, imitation leaves, rhinestones and trimmings;
- three packets of All Purpose RIT concentrated tint & dye in various shades of pink;
