The rectangular top with outset center and herringbone-inlaid edges above a conforming case fitted with a long drawer flanked by two short drawers over a pair of cupboard doors each centered by a circular inlaid patera and flanked by bottle drawers, all further flanked by a short drawer above a cupboard door each centered by an oval inlaid patera, all with stringing and cockbeading, on string-inlaid square legs with banded cuffs and tapering feet, the backboards with inscription D M Hunt Falls Village
41½in. high, 71½in. wide, 253/8in. deep

Lot Essay

The inscriptions on this sideboard's backboards, D M Hunt and Falls River probably refer to a previous owner living in Falls River in northwestern Connecticut. Interestingly, the town's library, established in 1891, is named the David M. Hunt Library.
