Maker's mark of William Forbes for Ball, Black & Co., New York, 1851-74
Urn form, on square pedestal foot, with four openwork cartouche feet, the base chased with acanthus and foliate border, supporting a plinth set with four dolphins and an heralding eagle crest, the inverted baluster-form urn with leaf-capped spout with ebony spigot, the elongated neck with wavy rim, the domed waved cover surmounted by Poseidon, marked under base of urn
29½in. high; gross weight 151oz. 10dwt.
