The soup tureen and vegetable dishes with maker's mark of William Gale & Son, New York, 1856; the stand and salt with maker's mark of Gale & Willis, 1859; all with retailer's mark of Henderson & Gaines
Each oval with egg and dart borders and engraved with a band of Greek key, the soup tureen on oval foot and with high-domed cover with leaf-clad reeded handle, the vegetable dishes on four foliate feet and with similar handles, also with a matching salt cellar, ach marked under base
The soup tureen 15in. long over handles, the vegetable dishes 14¾in. long over handles; 200oz. (4)
