Stamped "WF," Wilson's Forge, possibly Poughkeepsie, New York, early 19th century
Ornately-cast in the Greek Revival tradition, the large water vase with brass ball finial and collar surmounting a body with slant-sided opening flanked by pilasters and set with three brass medallions and paired brass ball finials, featuring cast gadrooning and reeding, diamonds and facetted rosettes centering a flower basket, the fire back enlivened with classical figures, the rounded hearth plate bordered with an openwork fender
