A French engraved brass striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm, circa 1870
The oval case engraved with foliate scrolls, with conforming gilt mask to the white enamel Roman chapter disc with blued steel moon hands, conforming alarm disc below (hairline cracks), later repeat button, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on bell to the backplate numbered 4615, with later rear door knob -- 5¾in. (14.5cm.) high
