Collation: a-q8 [r]8 s-x8 y-z6 &8 [1-58 610 7-118 126] (a1 blank, a2r Genesis-Jeremiah, Ezechiel-Machabees, 12/6 blank). 284 leaves. 50 lines and headline, double column, catchwords in unsigned quires. Type: 6:107G. 2- to 7-line initial spaces, occasionally with printed guide-letters. Initials supplied alternately in red and blue, spaces opening each book left blank. (A few marginal tears, small stains in one leaf.)

Binding: contemporary blind-stamped deerskin over unbevelled wooden boards, sides panelled and diapered with single fillets, border and compartments tooled with leaf, star and rosette stamps, the tools not in Kyriss or Schwenke-Sammlung; leather title label mounted on front cover with title repeated just below, 10 chased brass center- and centerpiece bosses, 2 fore-edge catchplates on front cover (without clasps); rear pastedown a sheet from a Latin manuscript written in German cursive bookhand on paper similar to Piccard, Kreuz, II, 475-476 (Frankfurt-am-Main 1474/Würzburg 1468); spine painted grey and lettered in black, probably in the 17th century; modern blue linen solander box.

Provenance: a few early marginal annotations -- Stephanus Florianus Bohdaloresky: armorial stamps in red with swan bearing and crest on first text page, presentation inscription giving this and two other books to a religious house, 11 December 1664 (name and location of the house heavily deleted) -- deleted ownership inscription of the same religious house, evidently a Capuchin monastery in a place beginning with L, also dated 1664; 17th/18th-century shelflabel on front pastedown -- Jorge Beristayn: bookplate -- [Richard von Hünersdorff, London: collation mark 1986] -- Martin Schøyen: bookplate; sale Sotheby's New York, 12 December 1991, lot 30 (to Quaritch).
