Lot Essay

Composed not earlier than 504/1110-11, and dedicated to Qutb al-Din Muhammad Anushtakin Khwarazmshah (d. 521/1127), this is a comprehensive medical composition divided into 9 books. It is believed to be the first major medical text in Persian. Its author Zayn al-Din Abu Ibrahim Isma'il al-Jurjani was the first notable physician to write in Persian. This is a beautiful early copy of the manuscript written in the early 14th century.
