Engraved title, letterpress title printed in red and black, woodcut portrait of Münster, 98 woodcut double-page maps and town-views, approximately 75 other maps and views in text, and approximately 900 small woodcuts in text. (Engraved title loose, plates occasionally partially parted along folds, a few margins renewed, some occasional light browning and spotting, a few scattered worm tracks.) Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over bevelled board, metal clasps and catches (one clasp lacking, wear at extremities).
Later edition, after the first edition of 1544. The work includes Münster's "Typis Orbis Universalis," the map which replaced the earlier Ptolemaic world maps. Alden and Landis 628/84; Burmeister 86; Sabin 51396.
