Sale room notice
These chairs are nearly identical to a single fauteuil signed NADAL L'AINE in the collections of the Villa Fiorentina, to be sold at Sotheby's New York, May 23 2001, lot 292. In particular, they have the same unusual blind arched fretwork carving on each front leg. Jean-René Nadal, maître in 1756, is likely to have produced these chairs as well.
