Solid cast, the flaring arms each terminating in two projecting knobs, with two incised lines along the edges of the arms, a perforation at the lower edge of each side arm, from which are suspended the Greek letters A and W, the projecting tang of the cross pierced for attachment

The Alpha and Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, symbolize Christ himself, as he taught to his disciples that he was the beginning and the end.
