Lot Essay

Daughter of artist Percy Tarrant, Margaret Winifred Tarrant was a watercolour painter of figure subjects, as well as an illustrator of children's books. She studied at the Clapham School of Art and at Heatherley's. She began by illustrating cards and calendars, and later worked for the Medici Society. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and in the provinces.
