An oxidised and lacquered-brass transit theodolite,
by Stanley London, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, ray shade, graduated bubble level, four spider's-web adjusters, located on the axis with 5-inch vertical circle, the silvered scale divided in four quadrants with two verniers and magnifiers, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, the curved shaped limb mounted on the horizontal plate incorporating a bubble level over the silvered chamfered horizontal circle, with twin verniers and magnifiers, on truncated support and three-screw tripod mounting, contained in the original fitted mahogany case -- 14½in. (36.8cm.) wide
