SEDLEY, Sir Charles (1639?-1701). The Miscellaneous Poems. London: J. Nutt, 1702. 8°, half-title (some browning and spotting), contemporary panelled calf with morocco label (extremities rubbed, corners bumped). Provenance: John Marques of Tweeddale (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION. No edition of Sedley's poems appeared in his lifetime, although a considerable number were included in a miscellany of 1672. POPE, Alexander (1688-1744). The Temple of Fame: A Vision. London: Bernard Lintott [sic], 1715. 8° in half sheets, half-title and two leaf "Proposal" at end (half-title soiled and with ownership signature cut from upper corner, title also slightly soiled, some light browning), morocco-backed boards by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. FIRST EDITION of this early work of Pope's, an "imitation" of Chaucer's Hous of Fame. Foxon P974; Griffith 36; Rothschild 1572.
