Lot Essay

Patrizia Lambrano has examined the present painting first hand and dates it to the mid-1480s, placing it close to the Rucellai Madonna and Child with Saints Jerome and Dominic in the National Gallery, London (Inv. no. NG293). While Everett Fahy believes the present painting is a fully autograph work, Ms. Lambrano feels that there is some workshop assistance, and will publish it as such in her forthcoming monograph on the artist.
