The case emblematic of the Sciences, with a cherub reading a scroll incised with geometric designs, a globe and a book to one side, with beaded gallery mount above the white narble base raised on gadrooned toupie feet, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed in red GASNIER A OARIS QUAI VOLTAIRE 17, pierced gilt-metal hands, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell -- 12½in.
