Of rectangular shape, the sheath with openwork panels framing scenes of courtesans and attendants lacquered on the inro in iro-e takamaki-e within identically shaped frames of roiro ground dusted with kimpun, the sheath and the top, bottom and sides of the inro decorated in nashiji, interior cases nashiji; fitted with an ivory bead ojime and an ivory netsuke carved as a recumbent ox, signed Gyokutomo--4¼in. (10.5cm.) high
