Of rectangular shape with very slightly sloped shoulder decorated on the lid with a cockerel, hen and two chicks in gold, red and black takamaki-e and hirame on a nashiji ground, decorated on the sides with flowers growing by a woven fence in gold and silver hiramaki-e on a matching ground, the interior and base roiro and nashiji; fitted with a shallow boxwood tray pierced with a finger hole--6¼ x 3¾ x 4¼in. (15.8 x 9.7 x 10.7cm.)
