A CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASE
meiji period (late 19th century), stamped with artist emblem [ota tamashiro]

Of ovoid form with waisted neck, galleried rim and stepped, splayed foot, worked in silver wire and colored enamels with three shaped reserves of birds and flowers on a ground of scrolling paulownia and peonies, the base of the neck decorated with a lappet collar and the neck and base enamelled with flower scrolls and geometric bands, stamped on base with flower emblem of the artist, mounts silver --7½in. (18.5cm.) high
