Of square section with rounded sides set on a recessed square plinth supported by four large, splayed bracket feet, the mouth flat and extended above the inset square neck, the cover also square with angled sides and fitted with a faceted, square knop; inlaid overall in silver wire, on the four curved sides with large roundels of pairs of tortoises, deer and cranes within diaper and key fret borders, on the inset plinth with key frets and on the feet with stylized flowers and foliage, the wide lip of the censer inlaid with additional flowers and fretwork which are repeated on the cover beside leaf-shaped apertures, the knop inlaid with florets above a square reserve of key frets and foliate scroll--9in.
