A SILVER COVERED MILK-JUG AND SUGAR-BOWL, New York, executed by John Chandler Moore for Ball, Tompkins and Black, circa 1850, (for a pitcher, by the same, with identical decoration, see American Silver, by Graham Hood, 1971, p. 220, no. 245), each urn-form on shaped circular foot, chased and engraved with broad frieze of scrolling grapevine, the sugar-bowl centering twice, the milk-jug once, crest above engraved script initials C.S.G., with applied grapevine rims, the milk-jug with shaped spout and hinged cover with tendril handle, with rusticated grapevine scroll handle, (the sugar-bowl with matching, though not fitting, cover)--the milk-jug 8½in.
