A PUNCH'ONG BOTTLE
YI DYNASTY (15TH CENTURY)

Of flattened ovoid form set on a ring foot, decorated in white slip on a dark greenish grey glaze with a large lotus medallion on one side and on the other side with another floral medallion within a wide border of interlocking triangles etched with parallel diagonal lines, the sides similarly rendered in sgraffito (line-incised) style with a wider band of foliate scroll, stylized peony blossom and another stylized floral form of the five depicted on the vase, the collar decorated with floral lappets, the neck replaced in silver- 9 in. (22.9 cm.) high
