A THREE PIECE AMERICAN TEA SERVICE, maker's mark of John Targee, New York, early 19th Century, comprising teapot, two handled covered sugar bowl and milk jug, each oval with waisted center, on rounded rectangular raised foot, two sides engraved with initial W, with die rolled rims, the teapot with panelled spout, angular handle, the molded low domed hinged cover topped by partly corded, flowerhead, oblong finial--the teapot 7¾in. (19.6cm.) high, gross weight 42.5oz.
