On shaped polygonal base concealing the bird mechanism, the moulded case with cast and chased foliate scrolls and flowers at the angles, surmounted by glazed virtrine with rising handle displaying the bird perched within realistic silk and feather foliage, the center seconds movement with duplex escapement, striking the hour and half hour on bell, the bird singing on the hour or at will by means of switch in base, circular white enamel dial with roman chapters and alarm disc within gilt mask engraved with foliate scrolls Swiss/French, c. 1860 -- in.
