On bracket feet, the sides cast and chased with strapwork inhabited by figures with swags and cornucopiaè on matted ground, silver figural pillars at the angles, the iron movement with brass backplate, plain pillars of square section, standing barrels to going and striking trains, altered to balance spring by replacing cock table with another pierced with false pendulum aperture, retaining original (?) foot, nag's head striking with bell between plates, later brass dial fitted to original iron plate, retains original pierced gilt bottom door profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, late 16th century -- 6in. (1.5cm.) wide
