The rectangular box decorated on the exterior in iro-e takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and gold and silver foil on a kinji ground, the cover with a ferry boat crossing a river, the passengers including a samurai, maiden, priest and monkey trainer, the waves rendered in gold togidashi, the sides of the box decorated with scattered red maple leaves, interior and base nashiji
