EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1750)

The irregularly shaped iron plate encloses a pierced and carved design of a three-level pine tree (sangai matsu). The needles are indicated by line carving--height 8.0cm., width 7.6cm., thickness 5.5mm.

Lot Essay

This famous Higo design was used by many of the schools in that area over most of the Edo period.
