Of rectangular shape with rounded corners, decorated on the lid with a stand of gold and black chrysanthemums in togidashi arching over a flowing stream, five birds in togidashi and two gold and mother of pearl butterflies flying above against the roiro ground enriched with gold hirame, the sides of the lid and box matching with further butterflies, the underside of the lid lacquered in gold takamaki-e with grasses on a nashiji ground and the interior also nashiji, rims fundame- 3 7/8 x 3 1/8 x 1 7/8 in. (9.8 x 8.1 x 4.9 cm.)
