TWO EARTHENWARE VASES
MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), ONE SIGNED KINKOZAN

The first of high shouldered ovoid form painted in colored enamels and gilt with two large shield panels of ladies and gentlemen in an interior or birds and flowers bordered by further rectangular panels of birds and flowers, all on a ground of dense foliate scroll and geometric forms, signed on the base Kinkozan; the second jar of ovoid form and without neck and decorated with a large panel of a formal arrangment of flowers and with a large panel of arhats and a dragon set against a dense ground of formal decoration in blue and orange enamels embellished with gilt- 7 3/8 in.
