A SILVER EPERGNE, composed of a dish cross converted into a stand to compose an epergne, all pieces stamped with lion passant, the central baskets and burner bearing marks for London, 1772, maker's mark of T. Langford II, the other baskets with maker's mark, the inverted burner issuing four swivel rods to the adjustable scroll and shell openwork feet, the upper part each issuing detachable foliate clad multi scroll branch with circular frame for the sweetmeat dish, the top dish support issuing the detachable part foliate scroll and circular frame for the central basket, each with solid center engraved with crest, the central basket engraved with coat of arms within flowering foliate surround, the flaring sides openwork with ovals, applied gadrooned rim--the sweetmeat dishes end to end 23¾in. (60.3cm.), to top of central basket 10½in. (26.6cm.) high, 68oz.
