The few images of prostitutes made by Atget were photographed in the brothels of Versailles, this one probably as part of his Old Paris/Landscape Documents. His series of prostitutes and brothels has been documented to be brief with possibly only as much as a dozen negatives ever made. Prints of this subject are scarce. (cf.
