Lot Essay

This Rayograph is documented. It was reproduced with three others and six drawings in the May-June issue of Les Feuilles Libres, the Surrealist literary magazine. The Rayograph offered here accompanies an article about Man Ray, a Surrealist's hommage canonizing the artist, by Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes, an author and member of the Paris Dadaists. He had already written on Man Ray, publishing an article in The Little Review (No. 4, Autumn-Winter 1923-24, pp. 10-12) entitled 'Dada Painting or the Oil-Eye' which included Man Ray among the Dadaist painters as well as a 1924 monograph on the artist.
