A WATERCOLOR AND INK DECORATED GEBURTSCHEIN
ATTRIBUTED TO CARL FRIEDRICH SEYBOLD, ACTIVE CIRCA 1818 - 1843, LANCASTER AND NORTHAMPTON COUNTIES, PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1840

In blue, yellow, taupe, and grey watercolor pigments centering three pillars crowned by intertwined floral wreaths, the outer flanking wreaths inscribed with Hebrew words, the central inscribed in German and signed below, "C.F.T. Seybold," each column with central German inscription including Psalms 23:1-3, Psalm 27:1, and Psalm 139:16-18, all above the inscriptions in English and German relating to the birth of Anna Kauffman, "... born Friday the 6th day of March, in the Year of Our Lord Jesus Christ 1840.... in Manor Township, Lancaster County. State of Pennsylvania. North America."--11 x 7¾in.
