THE ORMOLU AND PORCELAIN CIRCA 1810

Comprising a portico clock and pair of six-light candelabra, the clock with a circular acanthus-cast dial with roman chapters and signed Chappé à Paris and with anchor escapement striking on countwheel with mock gridiron pendulum and a spring suspension movement suspended between four Ionic columns headed by foliate capitals and surmounted by an acanthus-cast pediment with dentil-moulded frieze, the base with similarly cast foliate banding on block feet, the porcelain decorated throughout with ribbon-tied floral garlands and scrolling foliate spandrils and arabesques; the candelabra with baluster standard headed by S-shaped candlebranches cast as swans and centering a further anthemion-cast nozzle surmounted by a flambeau finial, the circular pedestal cast with engine-turned banding on square plinth, the porcelain similarly decorated, the porcelain signed in several places on clock 'Dess.invent' -the clock: 28in.
