EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1750-1800)
The openwork tsuba comprising: a round iron plate with abstract cricket design, the rim with many iron bones, some rust and rubbing to plate--7.4cm. h., 7.1cm. w., 5mm. th.; a thick iron plate with design of goose, plants, fruit, and dew drops, the rim with slight iron bones--7cm. h., 6.7cm. w., 7.25mm. th.; a rounded-square, thick iron plate decorated with praying mantis and grass, the edge with many bold, iron bones--6.8cm. h., 6.6cm. w., 6mm th.; and a thick iron plate formed as a crane with wings touching overhead, the rim with slight iron bones and rust spots--7.8cm. h., 7.7cm. w., 6.5mm. th.
