THREE SUKASHI TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1750)

The iron tsuba of openwork design comprising: a thick, round iron plate pierced with two plum blossoms connected by a thin bar, a wide center bar pierced with a snow flake on face and reverse, the rim with many running, iron bones--7.9cm. h., 7.6cm. w., 7.5mm. th.; a round plate pierced and carved with four ginger blossoms and pairs of scrolls, (considerable rust to rim)--7.6cm. h., 7.4cm. w., 5.5mm. th.; and a round plate pierced with two saddle bows and two stirrups, hitsu areas shakudo lines, some iron bones in the rim--7.4cm. h., 7cm. w., 5.5mm. th.
