THIRTEEN NAGASAKI TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1650-1850)

The iron tsuba comprising: an oval plate pierced with a design of a double dragon and scrolls, some undercut, (circa 1750)--6.9cm. h., 5.5mm. th.; a round plate with deer, a bird, a monkey, and fruit among undercut scrolls and vines, (hitsu-ana cut later), (circa 1800)--7.4cm. h., 6mm. th.; an oval plate with beaded rim, double dragon, and scrolls (some undercut), (circa 1800)--7.5cm. h., 6mm. th.; an oval plate pierced with a double row of triangles, and a scroll center with a carved seppa-dai area, (circa 1750)--7.1cm., 5.5mm. th.; an oval plate pierced with a double dragon with gold nunome highlights, and undercut scroll work, (circa 1850)--6.9cm. h., 5mm. th.; a squarish plate with two dragons encircling the rim, the center decorated with undercut scrolls and flowers, gold nunome surface, (circa 1700)--7.9cm. h., 5mm. th.; a diamond-form, mokko plate decorated with two dragons in undercut scroll work, (circa 1750)--9.2cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval plate with a design of shrimp in undercut scroll work, (circa 1800)--6.7cm. h., 4.5mm th.; an oval plate decorated with carved monkeys, (Mitsuhiro style, circa 1750)--6.7cm. h., 5mm. th.; two plates with a double dragon design and one plate with monkeys, (one rusted, two castings) (13)
