EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700-1850), SIGNED

The iron tsuba comprising: a thick plate decorated with five dried fish carved in the web, signed Akao, (some rust patches)--7.5cm. h., 7.2cm. w., 6.75mm. th.; a round plate with raised rim carved in low relief with rinzu lightning and cloud forms on both sides, the hitsu-ana of bracket-form, signed Echizen ju Kinai saku, some iron bones on rim, (circa 1700)--7.2cm. h., 7cm. w., 3.5mm. th. at center, 5mm. th. at edge; a mokko plate with raised edge and shaped hitsu areas, signed Bamen Tsunemasa, (circa 1800)--7.9cm. h., 6.9cm. w., 4mm. th.; a plate shaped as a grazing horse with halter at bottom, signed Nara Kanemasa (unrecorded) --6.8cm. h., 6.2cm. w., 5mm. th.; a mokko plate with acid-etched woodgrain surface on both sides, signed Kazutsune and kao, (a swordsmith who lived in Kii Province, circa 1830)--8cm. h. 7.3cm. w., 4.5mm. th., a very thick plate of cut-corner shape, pierced with design of crescent moon and three stars, signed Kishu ju Teimei, iron bones on rim--6.4cm. h., 5.8cm. w., 9mm. th.; a round plate carved with five ginko leaves, details in delicate surface carving, signed Echizen ju Myochin Yoshihisa saku, (the tenth master of this name, circa 1850)--6.8cm. h., 6.6cm. w., 5mm. th., a rounded, triangular plate formed as a chrysanthemum blossom with alternating pierced and solid petals, the base formed as a looped stem, signed Mikawa oite Sanshu Nishi o Kunitomo Masashige saku, (the third generation of the Kunitomo family, the son of Masayuki, circa 1830)--7.7cm. h., 7.7cm. w. at base, 6mm. th.
