TEN BRASS INLAY TSUBA
MUROMACHI/EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1500-1750)

The iron tsuba comprising: a round plate decorated with fox, grapes and vines, insects, and monkeys in relief (Heianjo style, circa 1500)--7.4cm. h., 7.2cm. w., 4mm. th.; two plates with raised pepper plant designs, (circa 1650)--7.3cm. h., 7.2cm. w., 4mm. th., and 6.9cm. h., 6.7cm. w., 4mm. th.; an oval plate with keyfret and family crest design (some inlay missing), (circa 1700)--7.5cm. h., 7.3cm. w., 5.5mm. th.; a round plate with raised inlay of grape vines and leaves, (Heianjo style, circa 1700)--8.2cm. h., 7.7cm. w., 5mm. th.; a plate pierced with twenty-four petals around the seppa dai outlined in flush brass (some missing), (Kaga, circa 1650)--8.4cm. h., 7.9cm., w., 4mm. th.; a pierced plate of linked-ring bamboo branches with leaves and inlay of snow on rim, (Shoami, circa 1750)--8cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; two eight-lobed plates inlaid with plants and family crests, pierced with open fans (some inlay missing), (circa 1750)--7.9cm. h., 7.7cm. w., 4.5mm. th., and 7.7cm. h., 7.5cm. w., 4.5mm. th.; a tanto hamidashi-sized, six-lobed plate with flush design of leaves and kiku crest, (Kaga, circa 1650)--5.5cm. h., 4.3cm. w., 5mm. th.
