A 13-BORE FLINTLOCK SHOTGUN with rebrowned three-stage twist sighted barrel signed in gold on the octagonal breech, case-hardened patent breech with gold line and platinum-lined touch-hole, engraved tang, signed border engraved flat lock decorated with a game-bird on the tail and with roller and rainproof pan (steel refaced), figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, iron mounts including butt-plate engraved with a hound on the tang, and trigger-guard with pineapple finial, the bow engraved with hanging game, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, horn fore-end cap, and brass-mounted ramrod, probably original (iron parts with areas of light pitting overall): in lined and fitted mahogany case with illustrated trade label and accessories including Cutts patent leather shot-belt and a pigskin flint-pouch also containing a combination tool, by Wattell Clark, London, London proof marks, early 19th Century
