King Anton of Saxony, waist-length slightly to sinister, with short upswept brown hair, wearing a red uniform with yellow lapels, silver-embroidered collar and silver epaulets, decorated with the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece, and the breast-star and green moiré sash of the Royal Saxonian Order of the Rue Crown; oval -- 4.2 cm high, gilt-metal mount

Lot Essay

Anton (1755-1836), son of Prince Frederick-Christian of Saxony and his wife Princess Maria-Antonia of Bavaria, succeeded his brother King Frederick-Augustus I (see lot 388) as King of Saxony in 1827. He married successively Princess Charlotte of Savoy and Archduchess Therese of Austria.
