A LARGE GERMAN PARCEL-GILT PINEAPPLE CUP AND COVER
maker's mark of Eustachius Hohmann, Nuremberg, circa 1610

On spool-shaped base chased with a broad band of ovolo and matting, the stem formed as a grape gatherer holding a vine in his left hand and a bunch of grapes in his right, the bowl with domed cover and elaborate vase of flower finial, the later plaque beneath the base engraved with a coat-of-arms and inscription dated 1660, marked on bowl, cover and indistinctly on foot, part of the finial marked IR, with replacement screws to interior of cover and base - 53cm. (20 5/8in.) high
