LUC SICARDI, signed, circa 1780/1785

A very fine miniature of a young lady standing in a landscape and holding a black tricorn hat with a red cockade, wearing a large straw hat set with striped blue and yellow bows, large half-pearl earrings, a white dress bordered with lace and tied with a checked red and blue sash, a white fichu knotted at her breast, her high-piled grey-powdered hair falling in coils on her shoulders -- 83 mm diam., faceted and engraved silver-gilt frame with silver-mounted reverse.

Lot Essay

A variant, depicting the same sitter holding a posy of flowers, now in the Louvre, was formerly in the Fitz-Henry Collection, sold Paris, Hôtel Drouot, rooms 7 and 8, Maître Lair-Dubreuil, 20 February 1914, lot 324.
