The style of this clock resembles that of Fabergé. The famous Russian jeweller often worked with materials found in the Siberian mineral deposits - nephrite, lapis lazuli and agate for example. In 1904 and 1905, Pierre Cartier made two visits to Russia during which he would have been exposed to Fabergé's creations providing him with inspiration for such exquisite pieces as the present clock.
