A FRENCH BONE BONBONNIÈRE SET WITH A MINIATURE
circa 1795/1800

Circular box, the bottom of the base unscrewing to reveal a secret compartment, the lid inset with a gilt-metal-mounted miniature depicting a couple of young lovers, the gentleman, wearing a wreath of roses in his hair, inviting the restisting lady to follow the example of two doves on an Altar of Love; the interior with brown lining -- 77 mm diam.
